Programmes organized by the NGOs:                                      

East Khasi Hills

                        On 20^th February, 2006 the Chairperson attended the Inaugural Session as Chief Guest and presented a paper on Philosophical Foundation of Research priorities in social and National Council for Education Research and Training, NERIS, Shillong.

                        On 22^nd and 23^rd February, 2006 the Chairperson attended as Resource Person at the Regional Level meeting on quality of Elementary Education under SSA at the administrative Staff College, Khanapara organized by the NCERT and NERIE.               

                         On 24^th and 25^th February, 2006 the Chairperson attended as Resource person the Legal Awareness camp organized by the Mawlyndun Socio Cultural Organisation, on Women’s Right 

                        The International Women’s Day was celebrated on the 8^th of March, 2006.  The Chairperson attended the Programme at Don Bosco Youth Centre along with the Minister I/c Social Welfare organized by the District Social Welfare Officer. Then at 2.00 p.m. attended Women’s Day at Umlyngka and 6.00 p.m. attended Women’s Day at Barapathar organized by the Mahila Samity. 

                        On the 9^th March, 2006 the Chairperson attended Women’s Day as Chief Guest organized by the women at Lawmei, Indira Mahila Kendra East Khasi Hills District to discuss the different problems related to Education and Health. 

                        On 11^th March, 2006 the Chairperson attended Women’s Day as Chief Guest organized by the women at Pynursla, Pyrnai and Nongjri to identify the problems faced in the village in health and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. 

                        On the 21^st March, 2006 the Chairperson met the Self Helf Group Flower growers, Umlyngka.  Had discussion regarding economic empowerment and how to facilitate the micro credit facility. 

                        On 8^th May, 2006 the Chairperson as Resource person attended the Legal Awareness Camp organized by the Women Welfare Organisation, Pynursla.  

                        On 22^nd May, 2006 the Commission organized a meeting with the NGOs, Rangbahshbong of the city related to different crimes at Shillong.  All Members of the Commission attended 

                        On 6^th September, 2006 the Chairperson s Resource person attended a Meeting at Laitkor with the women related to the abduction case (old cases) and how to prevent in the near future. 

                        On 16^th September, 2006 the Chairperson attended a Meeting organized by the K.S.U., Tyrsad and Seng Kynthei as Resource person, along with Smt. C.D. Shira, Dy. S.P. (CID) Member of the Commission.

                         On 17^th October, 2006 the Chairperson as Resource person attended the Women’s Meet at Mawsahew organized by the Seng Longkmie. 

                        On 28^th November, 2006 the Chairperson visited Mawryngkneng as Resource person along with Smt. C.D. Shira, Dy. S.P. (CID) Member of the Commission.  Had discussion with the Police and the Shnong relating to the rape case of a minor. 

                        On 29^th November, 2006 the Chairperson attended Meeting at Pammura on Women’s Rights organized by the Pammura Women Welfare Organisation as Resource person. 

                        On 2^nd December, 2006 the Chairperson attended Meeting organized by the Women Social Welfare Organisation, Pynursla and Nongjri as Resource person. 

            On 7^th December, 2006 the Chairperson attended Meeting at Pammura as Resource person with two groups of Women on how to create an atmosphere of living and learning together. 

                        On 29^th January, 2007 the Chairperson attended Meeting at Laitduh  organized by the women of Laitduh village as Resource person.

                        On 10^th February, 2007 attended Women’s Meet at Nongkynrih as Resource person and then to Pynursla organized by the women of Pynursla.

                         On 13^th February, 2007 attended the Meeting called by the Lumrapleng Co-operative Society, Smit and the Self Help Group organized by the Smit women as Resource person.

                         On 8^th March, 2007 the Chairperson attended Women’s Day as Chief Guest at the Youth Centre Don Bosco and Pynthorumkhrah organized by the District Social Welfare Officer and World Vision respectively. 

                        On 9^th March, 2007 Visited Syntung village.  Special assignment by the Government. 

                        On 10^th March, 2007 the Chairperson visited Jongksha village related to the murder case of Rinehskhem Kharsohnoh.

                         On 14^th March, 2007 the Chairperson visited Syntung village to meet the women.  Special assignment by the Government.

                         On 15^th March, 2007 the Chairperson attended Women’s Day organized by the Bosco Reach Out at Laitumkhrah as Resource person. 

                        On 24^th March, 2007 the Chairperson attended Awareness Programme as Resource person conducted by Syntung/Jongksha village on crime and atrocities against women and girls.

 West Khasi Hills. 

             On 1^st March, 2006 the Chairperson attended an Interactive Meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills district related to the problems faced by the girls and women, particularly adolescent boys and girls.

                        On 17^th March, 2006 the Chairperson along with Sr. Magdalene, Smt. C. Shangpliang Members of the Commission attended meeting at Nongstoiñ organized by the District Social Welfare Officer along with the NGOs, Rangbah Shnong and the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills district.  The following problems were indentified: 

1. Issuing of license to alcohol shop.
2. Sanitation of the Nongstoiñ Market place and its adjacent areas.
3. Health.
4. Need for sex and adolescent education and to hold Awareness Camps at Nongstoin Market, Riangdo, Pombriew, Shallang and Rambrai.   

                       On 24^th June, 2006 the Chairperson along with Mrs. D. Lyngdoh Mawlieh and Sr. Magdalene Synnah, Members of the Commission attended meeting at Nongstoin with the NGOs, Dolois and the Police relating to crime and atrocities against women 

            On 18^th September, 2006 the Chairperson attended a Meeting as Resource person organized by the Hima Myriaw at Nongkasen on Women’s Rights and responsibilities. 

                        On 27^th October, 2006 the Chairperson as a Resource person attended a Meeting at Hima Myriaw organized by the Acting Chief for women and girls. 

                        On 28^th October, 2006 the Chairperson attended a Meeting as Resource person at Mawlyngwir organized by the women of Mawlyngwir, West Khasi Hills.

                         On 3^rd November, 2006 the Chairperson attended as Resource person a Women’s Meet at Mawsynram Border and College Mawsynram on Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and Women’s Rights. 

                        On 5^th December, 2006 the Chairperson attended as Resource person a Meeting at Nongjlak Hima Myriaw called by the Women of Nongjlak.  Held discussion on Women’s participation in the traditional Institutions and Domestic Violence Act, 2005. 

                        On 22^nd January, 2007 attended Meeting at Rangblang St. Mary’s Rangblang organized by the District Social Welfare officer. 

                        On 23^rd January, 2007 attended meeting at Mawshynrut. Organized by the Self Help Group in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Officer. 

                        On 24^th February, 2007 attended Meeting at mawkyrwat organized by the Synujuk ki Seng Longkmie, Mawkyrwat related to the inhuman torture of Shri. Aniaban Hujon against his wife. 

                        On 7^th March, 2007 attended Women’s Day at Kynrud as Resource person organized by the Kynrud Women Self Help Group in collaboration with IFAD, GOI Kynrud.

 Ri Bhoi

                        On 23^rd March, 2006, the Chairperson along with Smt. W.K. Blah attended the interactive meeting with the District authorities and NGOs to examine the problems of teenage pregnancies the need to conduct adolescent and sex education, economic empowerment for the women through various schemes implemented in the district.  The womenfolk voiced their concern related to the non-representation of women in the village Durbar.  Need for a change. 

                        On 27^th March, 2006 visited Lamalong village, Ri Bhoi district.  The Meeting called by the Seng Kynthei Lamalong. Met the women and the following grievances were heard: 

1. The women of lamalong village are skilled weavers but till date there is no effort to recognize their skills, no support from the government.
2. Supply of safe drinking water to the village and requested the Commission to look into this problem which is affecting their daily lives. 
3. Medical care.  The village Lamalong has no Sub Centre for any medical care they have to walk 10 Kms from their village to Sonidan Sub-Centre.  The women requested the Commission to write to the authority concerned, to at least provide a trained nurse in the village.
4. The womenfolk demanded a Police Out-Post in the village.

                   On 29^th July, 2006 attended Meeting with the Headman and Executive Members at Nongkya village, Ri Bhoi.

                   On 27^th September, 2006 visited Dewlieh then to Umsaw Nongbri to meet the Self Help Group (flower growers), Ri Bhoi. 

                  On 24^th October, 2006 the Chairperson went to Nongpoh with Smt. W.K. Blah to meet the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District and the Police. 

                  On 8^th February, 2007 the Chairperson visited Nongpoh along with Smt. W.K. Blah, Smt. I.D. Lyngwa, Secretary of the Commission then to Umsohpai, Nongdenoi, Lailad, Ri Bhoi. 

                  On 21^st February, 2007 the Chairperson  attended meeting called by the Headman at Nongkya, Ri Bhoi along with Smt. W.K. Blah and Smt. I.D. Lyngwa.

                   On 26^th February, 2007 the Chairperson attended Meeting at Patharkhmah organized by the women related to the free sale of alcohol and its abuses.

                         On 26^th March, 2007 the Chairperson along with Smt. W.K. Blah attended the Awareness Camp on crime and atrocities at Umroi organized by the Seng Kynthei Umroi and the Durbar.

Jaiñtia Hills            

           On 16^th March, 2006 the Commission attended a meeting organized by the State Women’s Commission, District Social Welfare Officer and the Deputy Commissioner, Jaintia Hills District along with the NGOs.  The problems highlighted were teenage pregnancies and abortion among the teenagers; need to provide adolescent and sex education from Class IX-XII.  This is a long term plan to be coordinated with the Inspector of School.  It was also decided to hold an Awareness Camp at Lumshnong, Rymbai and Sutnga.

                         On 16^th June, 2006 the Chairperson and Dr. (Mrs.) J. Shullai attended a Meeting at Jowai with the Deputy Commissioner/Superintendent of police/NGOs relating to crime and atrocities against women. 

                        On 26^th July, 2006 the Chairperson and Dr. (Mrs.) J. Shullai attended a Meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, Jaiñtia Hills related to pending case. 

                        On 11^th September, 2006 the Chairperson and Dr. (Mrs.) J. Shullai attended the Rally at Jowai on Prevention of Crime and Atrocities organized by the Joint Action Committee, Jowai.     

                         On 15^th September, 2006 the Chairperson attended Meeting called by the Headman of Moodymmai, Jaiñtia Hills related to the long time dispute between the village and Lyttan family.  On the same day visited Mukhla village to meet the family members of a woman who succumbed to the burnt injury caused by her husband.

                         On 31^st January, 2007 the Chairperson and Dr. O.D.V. Ladia attended Meeting at Khliehriat with the Headman and Executive body related to the rape case at Wapung.         

                        On 15^th February, 2007 the Chairperson visited Wapung and Mawkyndeng related to the rape case.

                        On 23^rd March, 2007 the Chairperson along with Dr. O.D.V. Ladia attended a Seminar on Legal Awareness Programme organized by Iakyntulang Mahila Mandal Lad-Sutnga, Dkhiah East Khliehriat and presented a paper on Deomestic Violence. 

                       On 30^th March, 2007 the Chairperson visited Ummulong to settle the case of two families.

 East, West and South Garo Hills

                         On 5^th April, 2006 attended Public Hearing at Williamnagar in the     Conference Room of DRDA, Office East Garo Hills related to women’s problem organised by the Garo Mother’s Union and Khasi Cultural Society.

            On 6^th April, 2006 Public Hearing on different problems related to women in South Garo Hills, Baghmara in the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.

 On 14^th to 16^th November, 2006 all members of the Commission along with Mrs. L.Ch. Sangma and Mrs. Sonachi B. Sangma, Co-opted Members attended a Meeting at Tura with the Deputy Commissioner. 

            On 27^th to 2^nd March, 2007 the Chairperson along with Mrs. Sophia R. Marak, Mrs. Sonachi B. Sangma and Mrs. L. Ch. Sangma< Co-opted Members attended Awareness Camp at Tura, Chockpot, Kalagoan, Rajabala, Bhaitbari and Phulbari.
